ASA 5500 and IPS 4200 - Hardware & license requirement for CCIE Security

Unanswered Question

Dear All,

What will be the minimum suggested hardware and license requirement

for ASA 5500 and IPS 4200 for CCIE security lab ?

Can I have one ASA 5510 with Security Plus license and the other with Base license for failover configuration ?

Also what will be the smallest IPS 4200 series recommended for the security lab ?

Any input on this will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Zahid

I have this problem too.

Zahid,

I know for sure that the ASA 5510 licensing you metioned will not work. The licenses are incompatable for failover. in order to enable failover, one ASA (primary) must be license for at least Active/Standby Failover and the other ASA (secondary) must have the same license or a failover license.

I'm not sure about the IPS 4200. I hope this helps somewhat.

Good Luck!
