Connection drops randomly

Unanswered Question
Feb 4th, 2007

We are using 3560's. Switches are split with 5 VLans. On one particular vlan we have had several users connections just drop off for a few minutes, then reconnect, this happens throughout the day. I've failed to see what is causing this, any ideas?

I am going to upgrade the IOS to see if that helps.

We are currently using Version 12.2(25)SEB4

I have this problem too.

No they don't.

Are you able to tell me what these entries mean. From the 'show run' there are several ports that have the following entries and some don't have them?

switchport port-security

switchport port-security maximum 3

switchport port-security aging time 2

switchport port-security violation restrict

switchport port-security aging type inactivity

Thanks again

Hi

This configuration is to enable port-security on individual switchports.

switchport port-security

- This enables port security on the port

switchport port-security maximum 3

- This sets the max. number of MAC addresses that can be learned on that port to 3

switchport port-security aging time 2

AND

switchport port-security aging type inactivity

- Sets the aging time of the "Secure MAC address" learnt on port to 2min, and deletes the secure MACs after 2min of inactivity.

switchport port-security violation restrict

- When the number of MACs learned on the port exceeds 3 packets from other sources would be dropped.

I guess this would be the root of the connection drops.

Thanks.

I have removed the swithport security, however if I place a call to an ext with the existing problem, the call drops off after 20 seconds. - The phone reports Call Manager unavailable.
