traffic not crossing a 2006 controller

we configured a 1242 AP with a static IP that's on the same subnet as the rest of our network. we were able to finish configuring the AP-SSID, etc via web-ing into the AP when it was plugged into a network switch. We then powered it off and took it to its permanent location and connected it to a 2006 controller. Now we are unable to see the AP from the network side of the controller. We are getting a signal from the AP but unable to see the AP via GUI, etc. since we are not getting a DHCP IP.

Any Ideas?

Sometime DHCP request message is filtered by CHADDR field .Create and enable a DHCP scope on the internal DHCP server so that this can be overcome.Refer URL for more inforamtion on SCOPE
