Adding Redundant Supervisor Engine's to 6509's

Hi,

I am in the process of adding redundant sup1, sup2, and sup720 engines to our current 6509 switches. So far we have seen a brief loss of connectivity to traffic traversing a switch during the hot-insert of a new supervisor card. This outage causes problems to the application servers connected to these switches.

Is this a known issue and is there any way to minimize this outage?

Thanks,

Matt

The features you want are "SSO" (Stateful Switchover) and "NSF" (Non Stop Forwarding. The features when applied correctly will minimize the failover time for the 6500 series.

Here is a link with a bit of information on these items
