I do not understand what you mean when you say that telnet to www sites works. Are you really initiating a telnet session to www servers? When you say it works do you mean that you get a prompt, that you are able to login, or what?

And when you say that the sites are not available, do you mean that atempts to access them with a browser fail, or do you mean that the telnet session does not allow you to do things? Or do you mean something else?

Perhaps if you helped us understand better what is happening we would be able to give you better answers.

If you mean telnet to port 80 of the web server is successful but you stil lnot able to access the web site.

Successful telnet to port 80 means the www service is up in port 80.

You are not able to access the site could mean one or combination of the following;

- The web page you are trying to access in not in port 80 (maybe port 443)

- The main page configuration in the web server is wrong (i.e. default.html, default.shtml, index.html, index.shtml, etc..) check your web site defautl page configuration if its correct.

this happens a lot of times.

sometimes, the website allows specific IP addresses for access to their website.

Or sometimes, there is a proxy settings on the web browser.

Hi Aksher Sheriff,

1. How are you connected to internet

2. Is this happening across your network or only for few clients.

3. Is this happening for all websites, or a specific site.

4. Did you try with alternate browse.

Our experience says the problem is with browser settings try restoring defaults. If this does not work you may have to reinstall browse.
