I am attempting to setup a T1 connection between a Cisco 2821 router and Nortel AN (os version 15.4) router.
We had for long period of time these Nortel routers at both end. At one end we want to replace with newer Cisco router.
The Cisco 2821 router has a T1WIC card with a V.35 cable to a DataMAX external CSU. When I connect the Cisco router to the CSU, the serial interface goes UP but the line protocol does DOWN.
The remote Nortel router WAN protocol was reconfigured from "standard" (a nortel thing) to PPP. The encapulation on the Cisco router is also set to PPP.
The T1 is not coming up. The CSU's on both ends do not report any errors or problems as the circuit is still functional between the CSU's. Shouldn't be any issues there.
I think the issue is on the router config.
Has anyone any insight what may be missing or have you done this particular mix of Nortel and Cisco configuration with a T1?
Any help is appreciated.
