Hi,
I am trying to connect to the router using a modem connected to the console port. The router is configured and so is the modem.
When I dial the modem number I get a modem handshake and then nothing. What could be wrong? The error I get on the dialup is no answer. The error on Hyperterm is no carrier. I can hear the modem answer but the call gets dropped and then there is this error.

Why not use the aux port? That is the preferred way to connect a modem to a router.
It could be done with the console port but you won't get full modem control as some signals are missing. Check the following for more info:

I know that is the preferred way but they want me to use the console port. I know about the security issues around connecting to the console port but the guys here want it on the console port.
How do I fix?
