I want to restrict the bandwidth used by a particular system in my network.how shall i do it,..kindly guide me through

Hi
You can do this in 2 ways one is using normal CAR in conjunction with access-list or using Class based policing.
With CAR you need to create an access-list matching the ip address to which you want to restrict the access.
Once the same is done you can apply proper rate-limit command followed by the access group defined in the first step.
After that you can define the bandwidth policy which you want to define for the ip.
If you are doing with class based policing you need to define the acces list matching the ip which needs restriction.
once the same is done create a class map matching the acl defined.
after that you need to create a policy map under which you can do the policing of bandwidth permitted to this ip..
Once you are done with defining the policy map you need to apply the same under the interface..
