Hi,
I am stuck at the moment with a non-cisco phone (SNOM 300) and Cisco switch 2950. PC connected to IP Phone.
Configured voice vlan as 172. access vlan native.
I understand Cisco phones with CDP to be able to connect to the network.
What do I need to consider to ensure:
1) the switch
2) the non-cisco phone
all to work correctly?

I doubt the SNOM300 can read CDP so it won't grab the voice vlan information. Just configure the port as an access port.

I dont think this Phone would support CDP and therefore u'd have to make the port as a trunk. Also, a lot of non cisco devices have issues with CDP msgs being sent, so disabling CDP would also be a good idea

thanks guys,
definitely does not support CDP.
This is what I should do:
1. Set the port as trunk.
2. Assign VLAN ID 172 to the IP Phone.
3. Then the eth2 on the IP phone to a PC on access VLAN.
4. Disable CDP (consequences of this apart from IP Phone)
thx
