Caller ID issue with CME 4.0(3)

I am currently running CME 4.0(3) on a 2800 router. We are having caller ID issues.

When a call is placed from internal phone to internal phone the display is unknown.

When a call is received from an external line we get the display as " External ".

I have checked the ext. settings and it is not set to block caller ID.

Has anyone run into this problem?

would a reboot of the CME correct this problem?

Your CME is behaving strange for real. Please reboot and persisting of the problem, post your config.

Ok I have rebooted it and the T1 line in is configured as E&M.

I verified we are not getting caller ID. Now I called the carrier and they said they can add it. I called today and now they say caller ID is not available on E&M circuits,

Im not 100% if we can get caller ID on E&M circuits.

Does anyone know if you can. I know this is completely a carrier issue but in the last 24 hrs I got conflicting info from them.

Hi,

caller ID (ANI) is available only on E&M feature Group D, that is a veriant to basic E&M.

Try to get PRI instead. That will make your life much easier

Thanks thats what the carrier stated also.
