Hi, sameersharif

Which kind of wic card do you mention? Wic-1t and Wic-2t are surely supported by both platform. Here is two links regarding this two types of card:

WIC-1T

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps3129/products_tech_note09186a00800b0859.shtm

WIC-2T

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/products_tech_note09186a00800b0858.shtml

If you are mention other types of card, it's no difficult to find a similar pages.

Thanks for ur reply

1. We are using 1721 CISCO router that has one WIC-1ENET CARD AND ONE WIC-2T, both the serial interfare are occupied, now we want one more serial interface

2. Is there any card available with both ethernet and serial port

Please advise

Hi, sameersharif

So your needs is to have 3 wan connections and 2 lans? If so, I would suggest you to remove the wic-1enet and install one wic-1t instaed. Then you will have 3 wan ports for each connections and only one FE port for two lan subnets. Anyway you can create 2 subinterfaces on FE port that still meet your needs.

Let me know if this solve your problem.

Hi Shariff

You can make use of the WIC Card but make sure you are installing the same once you have switched off the 1721 router...

Hi Sameer

In this case you need to lookout for an upgrade of your router to higher version where in you can get required number of ethernet ports (i feel its 2) and required number wan ports.

AFAIK you can have both ethernet and serial ports accommodated only in NM modules which wont fit in Cisco 1721.

But its the other way around the same can be installed on your Cisco 2600 series router..

Unfortunately, the options for the 2610xm are limited. You can have NM cards with 1 or 4 ethernet (10mb) interfaces or with WIC slots but not both.
