we recently installed a 1242 LWAPP. this afternoon i noticed that the 2006 controller saw it drop off the network. the lights were Blinking red and blue, indicating a flash issue. what would cause a Flash file system failure?

thanks

Flash system failure indicates that the firmware of the AP is corrupt. You may have to reinstall the firmware to restore the AP. Flash failures can happen due to frequent power failures.

Thanks,

thats what the TAC techy said. So he shipped me out a new AP instead of trying to reload the firmware, etc.

I think i'm having similiar problem here.

I have new AIR-LAP1242AG-T access point.

i have tried to downgrade the firmware but the IP interface cannot start.

I can assign ip address to the Fa0 interface but cannot ping to my network.

ap#show ip interface brief

Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol

BVI1 unassigned YES DHCP up up

Dot11Radio0 unassigned YES unset administratively down down

Dot11Radio1 unassigned YES unset administratively down down

FastEthernet0 192.168.10.233 YES manual up up

ap#ping 192.168.10.1

% Unrecognized host or address, or protocol not running.

ap#ping ip 192.168.10.1

% Unrecognized host or address, or protocol not running.

Did i miss something here?

Please advice thanks

You must use the mode button on the back of the AP to uncompress and install the IOS .tar file via the ethernet port

The PC/Laptop that is being used to perform this task must have a TFTP server running and a class A static address in the renge of 10.0.0.2 - 30
