How to switch to a SUP1 or SUP2 module in slot 1 when running Hybrid OS

I have a CAT6500 with SUP1 or SUP 2 in slot 2 as the ACTIVE SUP module and the corresponding MSFC in slot 16 as the ACTIVE MSFC. This switch is running Hybrid - CatOS on SUP card and IOS on MSFC. I want the ACTIVE SUP and ACTIVE MSFC to become slot 1 and slot 15 respectively. What is the best way to achieve this other than pull out the SUP module out of slot 2.

How long will user traffic be not passed during the switch over - seconds or minutes?

The only way to move the active SUP from slot 2 to slot 1 without pulling out the actual board is to do a RESET 2 and RESET 16 on the switch. This will reset the Sup module in slot 2 and slot 16(MSFC)I recommend slot 16 first while consoled into the switch then reset slot 1). The control will move to slot 1 and slot 15. Keep in mind that you should have system high redundancy enabled as well as redundancy on the router MSFC's. This way you do not lose the routing ability. With redundancy the configurations are in sync with each other and if you reset the active module then the standby module will take over with a minimum down time outage....

So I need to session into slot 16 and do a reset or can I do reset 16 when sitting at the

Console(enable)> prompt.

In other words can I do:

=========================

Console(enable)>reset 16

then

Console(enable)reset 2

Note:

=====

In the MSFC IOS config, I have the following commands, but there are absolutely no redundancy commands under CatOS onfig.

MSFC IOS config has:

=====================

redundancy

high-availability

single-router-mode

Will this work as per the previous reply?

Any pointers to any documentation that explains this clearly?

Thanks

Sorry the CatoS has the following commands configured: I made a mistake in my previous reply.

============================================

set system highavailability enable

Check this document out. It will explain how to set it all up...

Thanks very much for this pointer to the document. After reading it a couple of times, I think all I need to do is

Console(enable)>reset 2

to make the SUP module in slot 1 active and this will automatically make the MSFC in slot 15 active which is what I want to achieve.

Currently Slot 2 and 15 are Active:

Now I understand better all the following CatOS and IOS commands:

Console(enable)>set system highavailability enable

Console(enable)>show system highavailability

Router(config)#redundancy

#high-availability

#single-router-mode

Router#show redundancy

Meant to say - Currently slot 2 and 16 are active:
