Vlan 1 on 2924-xl

I have tried to block Vlan 1 on a port fa 0/1 trunk of a Catalyst 2924-XL.

I have entered :

switch#(config-if)switchport mode trunk

switch#(config-if)switchport native vlan 2

switch#(config-if)switchport trunk allowed vlan 2

Unfortunately I see again vlan 1 on this trunk

Can I block it on Catalyst 2924-XL ?

bets regards

Lorenzo

I do not think you can eliminate/disable vlan 1 it carries carries the spanning tree traffic and other special purpose trunk info.

If you don't explicilty assign it ip addressing info you should be ok. All native vlan 2 does is transfer vlan 2 frames untagged.

Hi,

I know, but with C2950-24 I can do it,

I can block vlan 1 on trunk to any port

fastethernet, provided that I configure another native vlan for that port.

Can you tell me about it ?

Best regards

Lorenzo, the 2900XL and 3500XL series boxes are slightly different creatures. Example:

Switch>(config)switchport trunk allowed vlan remove vlan-list

The " remove vlan-list" valid variable range is 2-1001, also the pruneeligible list accepts only 2-1001.

I don't have access to a 2900XL, but you might want to see if there's a later IOS release that addresses this.

Have you tried to Shutdown interface VLAN1 and see if it takes?

My ref:

yes ,

it he same also if I shutdown Vlan 1.

Perhaps 2950 and 2900 are really difference.

I have installed the last IOS for my 2924-XL

but don't change never.

best regards

Lorenzo
