My ISP in NZ only support VC mux encapsulation for ADSL connection. Is there a VC MUX equivalent in 877W?

Your ISP only can give you better idea related to product support because they are maintaioning MUX.
Second, if you are seating at ISP end... you can contact to MUX vendor and find out.
Most probably, IT SHOULD SUPPORT.. Because it is no where related to router.
Mux vendors are making, product such standard way.
Still You can get some idea from
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk175/tk349/technologies_configuration_example09186a008009413e.shtml
You can also force up router to get the signal from MUX by
encapulation mux-ppl {What ever encapulation give by ISP}
That command avalable into above link document.
