CVOICE Home Lab

Hi,

I started studying CVOICE from "Authorized Self-Study Guide Cisco Voice over IP (CVoice), by Kevin Wallace" which is a great book. At the end of each chapter there are labs, I see that I need;

1 x Router with one serial and one FXS port

1 x Router with two serial interface

1 x Router with one serial and one FXS port

Does it mean that I need?;

3 x 2600 series routers

2 x VIC-FXS

4 x WIC-1T

Or do I need additional equipment?

Of course I would like to go further with QOS, IPTT, CIPT 5.0 and GWGK. If I will get those 2600's, 2 x VIC-FXS and 4 x WIC-1T, can I use them for the rest of the studying for CCVP or will they be useless?

I know this is a long journey, I do not want my equipment to be out-dated till I will achieve my CCVP.

Thanks for letting me know what your thoughts are,

I have this problem too.

For the roouters, get 2600XM's with RAM Maxed out at 256/48. This way you can run the latest 12.4/12.4T software with the latest voice features.

you should consider getting some XM series routers like the person just suggested - or you can get some 3640s if you want - those too will run IOS you will want to practice on. if you really want some good equipment that will not become out-dated, take a look at the ISR routers - just make sure you get the correct interfaces and DSPs.
