Hello!
Is it possible to put in a 3550 IOS on a 3548 and let the CPU handle all routing desicions? Can the cpu handle it? Just in small scale...
Can the 3548 even start on a 3550 IOS? Says it needs atleast 64mb dram to run and the same amount of flash, so I guess it wont even start?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

First tell us, which ios you are using.
You can check out IOS RAM requirement at www.cisco.com/go/fn
You can also compare IOS feature at same link.
What solution you are asking it is not racommanded.......

Mate,
Catalyst 3548-XL is a L2 switch and it has a different architecture than the Catalyst 3550. You will not be able to start the 3550 IOS image on the 3548-XL chassis.

No 3548 is a layer 2 only box.
