"Mpls ip " is used to enable mpls on interfaces and "tag switching " has same meaning

and to choose between two label distribution protocol tdp and ldp use "mpls label protocol ldp/tdp"..by default cisco routers will take tdp as label distribution protocol.

Regards

cisco refered to MPLS as tag switching when it was introduced earlier. so Cisco still uses its older commands for all those who woule be familiar with that. "MPLS ip" and "tag-switching" both can be used and thhey do the same function - i.e. enable the router to use mpls lsp to send the packets.

mpls label protocol ldp/tdp just tells the router which label distribution protocol to use. if you configure that command on a global mode, that becomes the default label distribution protocol for all the interfaces.
