3845 configured with MGCP together with SCCP for transcoding possible?

Hi all,

We have a 3845 as mgcp voice gateway registered on ccm 5. Due to a remote branch with limited bandwidth, we are in need to use a g729 and a transcoder.

Is it possible to have MGCP configured on the router while using SCCP to do the transcoding at the same time in one box.

since 3845, have PVDM2-64. Have also NM-HD-2V with some DSP.

setup as follows:

ccm5---|

|----------FR-----remote ip phone

3845---|

There is no voice gateway on the remote site. The 3845 voice gateway(used only for pstn fxos') on the branch site is also the not the one connecting the remote and the branch network but a different router.

thanks in adv.

I have this problem too.

Yes, this is possible and would work. Depending on how the PVDM's are currently being used. You might have to remove the transcoder configuration from the router incase all the PVDM is currently being used for XCODE and add MGCP Gateway and then use the remaining PVDMs to work as a XOCDE.

Hope that helps
