I have to install an 871 in parallel to a Checkpoint FW. Should I create DMZ VLAN on the 4port switch of the 871 or should I use an external switch?

Hi,
you can verify with a query "IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Support" in the Search by Feature
http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp
The 871 support the VLAN but depends on the IOS version.
