WPA-PSK lost...

snickered

I have several Aironet 1300's connected via WPA-PSK. One of them just went down (non-root) and I don't know the WPA-PSK. From the 4 that are still working I have the encrypted hash from the configs. Is there a way that I can crack one of these to acquire the key? I am talking about the key from the line that says:

wpa-psk ascii 7 XXXXX....

TIA for your comments.

I just ran the encrypted password from

wpa-psk ascii 7 11584B5643475D5B5C737B

( ref: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5853/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008067e9eb.html )

through the type 7 encrypted password decoder from Boson

http://www.boson.com/FreeUtilities.html

and it returned a "proper" value ...

so try this.

Have you tried to load the configuration from one of the up AP on the down AP? May be this will work...good luck.

I don't know what hash function Cisco uses (MD5, SHA-1, etc.) but hash functions are mostly one-way, meaning you can not get the passphrase from the hash.
