Basic Question for configuring 7914 with CME

Ok - I've searched google for a few hours before posting this and hadn't found the information I needed, so I figured I'd ask the gurus over here.

Basically, I have a small office with 8 phones and 2 have the 7914 expansion card on them, and I'm using Call Manager Express on a 2821.

All I want to do is configure the darn things, and all I wanted was a step by step to do this, this and that and done.

Is there a configuration guide out there that I'm not finding or is this top secret info?

and just to make sure, would it matter if the phone was turned on while I'm configuring them (the cards) or not?

Thanks,

Al

The expansion card is attached to the phone, so you have to configure them both together, or rather the expansion module configuration is part of the phone configuration.

Configuration guide, command reference, network design reference manual, ad-hoc TAC guides and this forum itself. CME (and in general, IOS gear) use and fine configuration is far from secret. Just type freely in the search form on CCO and you will be overwhelmed by the information available.

Hey guys thanks for your replies... I appreciate the sample config - It's just that I'll need a step by step for configuring it, and I don't know why it's not 'easily' available. (believe me, I searched google and cisco for hours)

And to the second reply, I said I've already searched most of what I've known to be resourceful - no luck.

I probably should restate that I'm looking to configure the 7914 expansion card, not the phone itself - plus, I'm using Call Manager Express.

It should be really simple... and all I need is a little pdf from Cisco that explains it... nothing tough.

Thanks,

Al
