I will be migrating my PIX FW to the new ASA 5510 and was wondering if the PIX config will easily migrate to the ASA. Is there a tool to help in the migration? Are there any examples that show a PIX to ASA configuration move?

There are no examples to show how configuration can migrate from PIX-515 to ASA-5510, however, if your PIX-515 is running on 6.x code, I would recommend you to upgrade your PIX first to 7.x code.

This will atleast migrate your config. from 6.x to 7.x. Thereafter, you can place the configuration on ASA. This will be almost as good a migration.

Hope this is helpful.

I am currently running version 6.3. I only have 32MB of RAM. Will I need to uprade teh RAM before upgrading to version 7.x?

Yes .. you will need to upgrade RAM on PIX. Following are requirements-

PIX with Restricted license requires 64 MB RAM.

PIX with Unrestricted license requires 128 MB RAM.
