boot enable-break not working

Hi All,

I have two WS-C3550-24 switches running the exact same IOS. The problem is I need to be able to break the boot sequence, now on one switch it works fine, but on the other switch, sending the break signal does nothing.. it ignores it!

boot enable-break was set in config mode, ive also tried setting the environment vars (both ENABLE_BREAK=1 and ENABLE_BREAK=YES) but neither are successful. The switch that isn't working does say that the password-recovery mechanism is enabled. I don't know why this isn't working because i'd just assume that the interrupt is handled at software level.

Both switches also use the same bootloader version

If anyone one has any ideas i'd greatly appreciate it!

Do both switches have tha same config-register value?

Can you post "show ver" from both switches?

Hi,

config-registers were the same.. I've somehow got it working.. kind of!

Doesn't strike me as the most stable method of breaking switches but perhaps an IOS update will solve that.

Thanks anyway
