Hi,
I have connected a modem to the console port of my 3640 Router. I have configured this port for the modem as well. When trying to connect to the router, the line just rings. The modem does not answer and there is no handshake. What could the problem be?
Could someone tell me how to configure this correctly by means of showing me a template.
using the US Robotics V-Everything modem.
Thanks

You cannot connect modem on console.
Please try to connect modem on AUX port and configure LINE password on AUX.
After... if you ned configure AT commands for fine tunning.

you are able to connect it to console port. I've seen it done.

Perhaps, but the console port only has three active lines: TX, RX, and ground / common..... no modem control or handshake lines.
The AUX port has full modem control (CTS/RTS, DTR/DSR, CD <--- Carrier Detect so the Router knows when the modem has naswered a call)
Good Luck

have you DTR high on the modem, probably worth setting dsr high as well to get auto answer to work.
