We have one department (Surgery) in our hospital that will go through a period where most of the 7950 they get busy signals. While the rest of the hospital is fine. We have a WISM blade running 4.0.179.11 in a 6500 the controller used for the Surgery department is also used in other dept's which have no problems. We have had a site survey done and rechecked several times. We don't use Auto RF. We do haowever get Coverage holes most of which are int the Surgery dept.

Thanks,

Pete

Did either of the 7920s lose connection to the CallManager?

Do they have forward no coverage configured?

Sounds like it may be route pattern issue.

Hey bro-,

It has been my experience that surgical departments are usually surveyed at night when no one is in them. However, during the day when they fill up with various doctors, circulators, patients and equipment, the RF dynamic changes dramatically. Surgical departments need to be surveyed taking the aforementioned attenuation into consideration and need to be surveyed with more of a fade margin.

See if you can talk someone intoletting you spot check the environment during a case. Use the survey tool on the phone and pick something really hairy like the Heart rooms. If you have never seen what all goes on in there during a case, it will be somewhat of an eye opener. You will be surprised the thing works at all...

We have had the survey done during the busy ours as well as the least busy hours.

We get coverage holes in the OR through out the day, which we don't see anywhere else. We have had an engineer walk the OR with a spectrum analyzer, with no sloid results.

The problem isn't constant. It comes and goes. Very frustrating.

Ensure the platinum QoS profile is configured for 802.1p tag of 7 vs 6. Currently an aging feature in 4.0 controller code, which could possibly cause some connectivity issues for the 7920s.

This would mainly be an issue when the 7920 is in idle and receiving an incoming call.

That is when we have the problem. Will changing the tag from 6 to 7 cause any kind of outage?

Will need to disable the b/g and a radios before making this change, so will need a maintenance window.

Other option is to use gold profile, which will use 802.1p tag of 5, where just that voice SSID can be changed. Sould be a quick downtime.

Would recommend modifying the platinum profie though since it's the same voice queue as 6, but the aging feature will not be enabled.

Thank You! I will schedule an outage and make the change. I will let you know.
