That equates to latency. There is a utility freely available and installed in most system called PING, to measure the speed a packet travel from source to destination and back again which is known as the round trip time

ping destination_host_ip_address
ping 10.10.10.1
You can also use a nice graphical tools

Sear, I know about ping but what I talking about is tool that give a vaisual status so I can check it easier.
