I have a Cisco 3745 router with a ATM DS3 port adapter. I need to install a DS3 link to the peer end router which is a CISCO 7604 router.

Please find below the Show diag output of that 7604 device.

Please advise me if this 7604 device will support the DS3 link, as iam not very sure what these SPA Interface processor modules can do on these 7604 devices.

Also, there is a serial2/0/1 free on that 7604 device. If the hardware supports, can I terminate the DS3 link from 3745 ATM DS3 port adapter into this serial interface?

Appreciate your response.

Regards

I really would appreciate if anyone would reply to my query.

Thanks in advance.

Depends on the circuit type and signalling that both interface can support. For example, an ISDN BRI in one end can connect to an ISDN PRI in the other end.

For your 3745, I assume its NM-1A-T3 since you mentioned its DS3. For your 7604 the module is SPA-2XT3/E3.

NM1A-T3

SPA-2XT3/E3

Both support Full-duplex connectivity at T3 rate (44.736 MHz). Take note that even though your 7604 network module SPA-2XT3/E3 can support T3/E3, you can't use E3 signalling since your 3745 network module only support T3 signalling.

Wait for experts to reply :)
