4700 wont keep configurations

I have a 4700 that will not keep the configuration. I am always greet with the would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:

I believe my friend had to recover the passwords b4 he sent them to me. He doesn't remember if he had to or not though. Any light that could be shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

The most common correct explanation for the symptoms that you describe is that password recovery left the config-register at 0x2142. As Ahmed indicates the way to check this is from the output of show version. To correct it set the config-register to 0x2102.

Can you check your config register value? It is probably set to the wrong value.

Post a "show version".

The config-register was incorrect. I corrected that and now I can make changes and save them. Thank you.
