HSRP between two router with different IOS

Hi,

I have two 7513 router with IOS 12.1(14) GD Enterprise. Fa0/0/2 is crossed while Fa0/0/1 is ISL trunk to two switches.

The trunk port Fa0/0/1 have multiple sub-interfaces configured in HSRP. If I change one of the 7513 with 3845 installed with Advanced Enterprise Service 12.4(?), will the HSRP/ISL trunk still work?

ISL is not available on the internal GigE ports of the 3845 router, but it is available on

Etherswitch module ports. Please check which module you have and proceed accordingly.

HTH,Please rate if it does.

The router have not arrive yet :)

I also purchase FE module for 3845, I will use the GE to crossed to 7513 FE while the 3845 FE module will be ISL trunk to switch with HSRP in the sub-interfaces. Theoretically they should work.

Yes, they should work. The follwing FE module has support for ISL trunking.

EtherSwitch Service Modules (NME-16ES-1G, NME-16ES-1G-P, NME-X-23ES-1G, NME-X-23ES-1G-P, NME-XD-48ES-2S-P, and NME-XD-24ES-1S-P)

HTH,

The FE module I purchased is NM-2FE2W. I have to change my plan then.

What I'm planning is this to minimize downtime. Replace one of the 7513 with 3845 first then replace the last 7513 with 3845. After that, replace the two switches with 3750 and move the HSRP from 3745 to 3750

Well, as mentioned the devices have not arrived yet. Once I have them, I can try every possible scenario to replace the existing routers and switches.

Your reply is informative at this time, I'll post again on this subject.

This is the config in 7513 interface that I'll be putting in 3845
