Greetings,
I am planning to deploy a cat 6500 in native mode. I will be using it for switching (closet switch). I'm not clear how to assign the IP address to the switch, do I assign it to the interface loopback0 or inteface vlan1. I will appreciate your assistance. By the way this will be a VTP client switch.

Try this;
set interface sc0 2 172.21.x.x/255.255.255.0 172.21.x.255
Where the 2, after sc0 = the Vlan you want the management interface to be on.

The commands above are for the catOS. I am actually converting to IOS. Thanks for trying. The command I was looking is interface vlan1, the switch ip address will be assigned to this port. Thank you.
