Gigabit Supported cable recomendation

Dear Support,

I have a problem to connect gigabit backbone links between two Cisco E500 switches on about 200 Feet CAT6 Cable. Can some recomend the cable specification for gigabit backnone connectivity. Thanks

The following are the cable specifications for Gigabit Ethernet

1.1000baseCX ( Shielded Copper) - 25m

2.1000baseT (Copper CAT5 UTP)-100m

3.1000baseSX (MM Fiber,780nm)-500m

4.1000baseLX (SM fiber, 1300nm)-3km

You can take 1000base SX module for the connectivity.

Cat 6 should have worked just fine. Most wire is rated for 5e now as opposed to 5. Is this a single cable or is it terminated on a patch panel. You have to use Cat 6 rated component throughout for it to be truly cat 6. Without testing the cable you can't be sure the terminations are good. FYI, you can use a straight through cable for gigabit since it is full duplex on all 4 pairs. I would reterminate the ends if a tester is not available.
