Hi all, If I want to put my pix on a public ip at home, do I need 3 public ip's? one for the wan interface thats goes to my provider, 1 for the inside interface of my router and 1 for the pix? or could i get away with using 2, by using ip unnumbered on the ethernet interface of my router so it uses the same ip as the wan atm interface ?

cheers

Hi,

You only need 1 Public IP address ... the Inside interface & DMZ'S are private IP ranges ...

The Private will be NATTED when going outside

If you find this post usefull

If I only use 1 public address, that means i do all my natting on my router, I want this done on my firewall!!

Your Pix firewall will do the NAT process. Use private IPs for your DMZ and Internal networks.
