I am thinking of setting up a san on my network, my question is how do i start?

A SAN can be very complex but also very easy...

can anyone give me a simple explanation on this ?

just take a PC with 1 network card and put linux on it with 2 or 3 harddisks on it.

Use NFS/CIFS and you have yourself a little NAS :-)

i thought you have 2 network cards, 1 would be the lan, the other would be for the san network?
