If you are going to install new OS and Exchange 2003, and put all tha work in, its fairly simple to move to 4.2 unity. It's stable and runs much better thand 4.05. Is there a compelling reason to install 4.05 and not 4.2?

They are currently running 4.0.5.We are in the process migrating the server.

Can any one confirm that unity 4.0.5 VM only server is supported on windows 2003 and exchange 2003

Both Exchange 2003 and Windows Server 2003 are supported in voice messaging only deployments with Unity 4.0(5). Exchange 2003 requires that the message store is on a separate server. Take a look at the following link for confirmation.

I am looking for information in regards to the benifits of migrating from 4.0.X to 4.2

I saw your posting and wondered if you had any links I could review.

There are new features in 4.2 that enhance the product for the subscribers. For the admin, at least from my view, I think it is a more stable product than 4.0x. They cleaned a lot of things up. If you search in the forum, you may find a few more comparrisions on 4.0 and 4.2

cheers

Look at the New/Changed functionality sections of the release notes for 4.1 and 4.2 below. This will give you a good idea of the changes between 4.0 and 4.2.

I think you mean does Cisco offer an Exchange 2003 runtime edition as it does with Exchange 2000 for Voicemail only installs. As I understand it the answer is no and the customer would have to supply the Exchange licensing in this case.
