Configuration for a Voice gateway router

Unanswered Question

Hi

I need to configure a new router to serve has a voice gateway in a new IP telephony system, but I have some doubts. I need to connect these accesses:

- 1 Voice PRI of 30 channels (E1) to the PSTN;

- 7 FXO to the PSTN;

- 4 BRI to existing equipments that are going to be kept in the new system. These equipments are used to connect the existing PBX to Phone Cells, used to direct call to 3 separate GSM operators.

I was thinking in a 2800 series model with this configuration:

1 - NM-HDV2-1T1/E1 ? to connect the PRI

2 - VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE ? to connect the 4 BRI

2 ? VIC2-4FXO ? to connect the 7 FXO

2 - PVDM2-64

Can you advise if this configuration will work?

Thanks in advance

Ricardo

Ricardo,

The 2800 routers only has 4 HVWIC slots and you need 5, with the confiuration that you are planning. You will have to use a 2811 model or higher.

I think that you have to use a NM-HDV2-1T1/E1 network module for the E1, with a PVDM2-64 in that NM and use the four HVWICs for the BRIs and FXO cards with the other PVDM2-64.

I think that you can save some money using PVDM2-32 cards instead of PVDM2-64. Try some calculatios with the DSP Calculator:

Hope this helps,
