Hello everyone,

I was just following the DST steps to upgrade my 7941/7961 phones registered on CME 4.0(3). The phone loads currently are version 7.0(3.0S) In accordance with

Cisco Field Notices 62686 and 62666, I need to upgrade these to 8.0(4)SR3A.

I have never updated phone loads before, and would like guidance and

instructions on how to perform this upgrade.

I had three further questions regarding this case.

(1) Is it possible to upgrade just one phone so that we are able to test it?

(2) Does the CME Router need to be reloaded?

(3) Do the phones need to be reloaded manually?

1 - yes, just reset one phone after the steps below.

2 - no

3 - manually, yes, that is you reset the phone(s) from config mode in CME.

Copy all the files into CME router. Configure all the files with "tftp-server ...". Configure load under "telephony-service" for the file SCCPxxxx.loads without the .loads extension. Reset one or more phones.

Observe and debug the proces with "term mon" and "debug tftp events".
