Hi all,

One query up here!

i have 4007R chessis with two sup-4 : active and standby.

i m not able to get connectivity using second gbic port of active supervisor.

when i try to configure port 2 of this gibic i get following information:

bslgdc_4507(config)#int gi2/2

% WARNING: Interface GigabitEthernet2/2 is usable/operational

% only when this is the only supervisor present.

bslgdc_4507(config-if)#

what does it mean?

can't i use my second port?

using show interface command i get :

bslgdc_4507#sh int gi2/2

GigabitEthernet2/2 is down, line protocol is down (inactive)

any idea!!

Hi Govind,

With Redundent Sup's in the 4507R chassis only first port of Each sup engine is active. The second port is inactive on both the sup engines. I.e port 1/1 and 2/1 is active on the sup's port 1/2 and 2/2 are inactive or in standby mode.

If you have only one sup engine in the chassis then both the ports will be active at the same time.

HTH,Please rate if it does.
