I am attempting to move a DHCP scope from a Windows server directly to a 2621Xm router runing 12.2(23) IOS. Creating the scope itself is not the problem. The scope on the Windows server has two Novell options (option 78 & 79) for SLP. On the Windows server the option are in hex.

Example: 079 SLP Scope List Standard 01 70 78 6c 5f 73 6c 70

On the router do I just create the option withthe hex parameter and enter values as 0170.786c....etc?

Also the option 78 entry has values in the 0x?? format. Do I drop the 0x part of the hex value and just use the next two values.

Any help in how to properly recreate these options in IOS would be most appreciated.

I have this problem too.

Remove the hex parameter.Drop the oX value and make sure the length field is not configured.

Do you have a syntax example? If not entered as hex, is it entered as ASCII?? Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

sample config would look like;

ip dhcp pool wired

domain-name ccie2007.net

option 78 hex abcd.fedc

option 79 hex 0170.786c.5f73.6c70

Thanks so much for the quick response.

I placed option 78 in my pool for IP addresses for and as follows:

option 78 hex ac10.020d.ac10.020e

, but is still not working. The following Novell TID explains that the 'Length value must include one for the Mandatory byte and include four for each Directory Agent address which follows'.

I have tried a few variations, to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks again!
