Is there a way to have BARS notify you if it fails to run?

You have the BARS log for that.
Each time BARS run it logs a file for example, BARSInstall 05-10-2006 10.17.45.log
which is the time and date of the log.

Is there anyway to setup some kind of automated notification? We support multipule customers and can't check the log every day.
