Hi Everyone:

This is a logistics question. I already have my CCNA and CCNP which are scheduled to retire in mid april. Cisco website tells me if I take any 642 exam I will renew my CCNA and CCNP certs for 3 more years.

Question: If I just take the 642-871 Arch exam will I both renew my CCNA, CCNP and aquire my CCDP - as I already have completed the other exams required for CCDP via my CCNP certification that I already have? Or do I still need to take the CCDA exam to also achieve the CCDP? Or will they simply not let me take the 642-871 CCDP exam until I first take and pass the 640-861 CCDA exam?

But you can take the ARCH exam before the CCDA exam if you wish. You just won't be CCDP before you also obtain the CCDA.
