replacing 3600 with 2600, 2*T1 & Ethernet

Unanswered Question

I have 2 T1 connection to branch offices coming in to my router: IOS (tm) 3600 Software (C3640-I-M), Version 12.2(21), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)

the routers on both branch offices are also 3600.

I have a 2600 router that I want to use in the main office to replace the 3600: IOS (tm) C2600 Software (C2600-I-M), Version 12.1(5)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

did all the configuration and connected the new router to my LAN - all works perfect.

then I switched the connections on both T1s to the new router and could ping the routers on both branch offices (I see it as L2+L3 working)

now here is my problem: I can't access any device beyond the routers, both when accessing from the new 2600 to each branch office or other way.

everything look ok and obviously there is something I'm missing - either a configuration or incompatibility of the 2600 IOS.

I hope to get a clue...

I have this problem too.

Are you able to ping the LAN interface IP at the branch office from the 2600. If you don't then the 2600 mayn't have route to the LAN at the Branch Office. Compare you configuration from the 3600 with the 2600 and make sure it took all the commands.

If you are still having problems then post your configuration.

Make sure IP routing is enabled in the router. I have seen some new routers come shipped with 'ip routing' disabled. And add a default route like this one and check the status;

ip route

If you are still having problems then post the configuration.

here is one of the serials and the routing is the LA router WAN interface

Ethernet0/0 is my LAN interface (that is the one int that work fine)

interface Serial1/0

description Line to LA

ip address

service-module t1 timeslots 1-24

ip classless

ip route

ip route

ip route

ip route Ethernet0/0

no ip http server

When you do a 'show ip route' you should see all those static and connected routes show up in the routing table.
