Unanswered Question

I am just wondering how to simulate ISDN environment? I am currently using dynamips to do simulation like Frame-relay.

But no clue on how to do ISDN lab. Any input, highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hi, kyaw

You have three options

A hardware ISDN simulator plus two routers with bri interfaces. You can find many simulators from different vendors on ebay.

A software router simulator with ISDN features. Boson is the most famous on the market. It supports many ISDN features which meet the needs on old CCNP exam. (I wonder if they might remove ISDN features in the future because ISDN is no more required on the new CCNP exam.)

A rack rental that still supports ISDN. Have a look at Chris Bryant's page.

Thanks for your information. Option 1 & 3 are out of my choice because I don't live in US and don't want to rent the rack to try the ISDN. :D

I will try on Boson. I understand the ISDN is out of picture in new CCNP exams but still a lot of company running ISDN with dialer interface as backup option.

That is the reason I want to play around with simulator instead of live network which may cost my job. Hehe.. :)

Thanks for your input.
