Which conf reg is used to recover password 0*2100 or 2142?

0x2142 works because it will ignore the startup config in NVRAM. Therefore, you boot the device, exit from the setup menu, enter enable mode, then do a "config mem". From there, since you are already enabled, you can adjust the passwords as needed.
Do not forget the "config mem" step or you risk losing your startup config.

but what's the significance of 0*2100 in passwd recovering?

I don?t think 2100 is usable for pw recovery, as it will bring the router into rommon.
