Hi all,
I am in the process of upgrading the rommon (bootstrap) of a Cisco 2621 router, the only method i've reached is to go to the rommon mode and do the following:
> rommon 4 > IP_ADDRESS=<ip_address_for_the_local_router>
> rommon 5 > IP_SUBNET_MASK=<subnet_mask>
> rommon 6 > DEFAULT_GATEWAY=<gateway>
> rommon 7 > TFTP_SERVER=<tftp_server_ip>
> rommon 8 > TFTP_FILE= c2600-i-mz.123-22.bin
> rommon 9 > tftpdnld -u
The problem is that when i did everything i was astonished that my router doesn't support the "-u" key, while other routers does.
Has any one faced this problem, or know a solution? I need to upgrade the rommon in order to support new features (like "no service password-recovery").
Thanks in advance,
Mohammed Mahmoud.

Mohammed,
There are only to options with "tftpdnld" command " -h, -r".
h is used for rommon help and r is used for loading the image directly to DRAM not in the flash. On which platform did u see "-u" option and what is the use ?

Hi Amit,
In the following document you can find the usage of the -u option:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6350/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008044cbc9.html
What i've reached is that for some platforms i've to order the ROM as a hardware, and in other situations i can upgrade the rommon, can you confirm these results.
thanks in advance,
Mohammed Mahmoud.
