Hi all ,can anyone describe to me the basic setup of a san ? would my server have 2 network cards, 1 for the lan and 1 for the san, both on different ip addresses ?
This is a really wide open question. There are several methods of implementing SAN. You might have 2 teamed NICs in a Server and a Fibre Channel connection to your SAN. Or you might have a NAS (Network Attached Storage) where the Storage gets it's own IP address/NIC etc, independent of a "server".
It might take a little research to get the real answer to what your looking for.
