Hi Ney,
Jon had very well explained the procedure.
In addition when you have converted from CTAOS to NATIVE IOS you can use this tool to convert your CATOS config into Native IOS config
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/CatCfgConversion/catcfg_xlat.pl
You reuire a CCO login for the same. Also this tool may not convert all your CATOS config to IOS config but will cover most of the same.

Hi Jack
Presumably you have a SUP 2 with an MSFC card. On the MSFC you run IOS but on the switch you run CatOS ie hybrid mode.
If so yes it is possible to upgrade to IOS only ie native mode.
Attached is a link to a doc that cover this.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_tech_note09186a008015bfa6.shtml
Things to be aware of
1) All your switch config will change. Cisco do a conversion tool between CatOS and IOS config but you still need to check it.
2) Make sure any IOS you select supports all the modules you have.
3) Make sure you have enough memory for the upgrade. You can use external PCMCIA cards to hold the IOS if necessary.
Have a look at the doc and come back if you have other questions
