MCS-7816 Available?

Unanswered Question
Mar 21st, 2007

Just wondering if anyone knows when the MCS-7816 will be available and what platform (HP/IBM?) it is based on?

Would rather wait for the 1U factor than a 7815 purchase.

I have this problem too.

Hi Rob

Thanks for the quick response

Do you happen to know which HP/IBM model the 7816 is based on? (ie 7825=DL320, 7835=DL360, etc)

I know the 7815 was based on an IBM X206... unfortunately could not find any photos of the new 7816

Sorry Andrew,

I looked everywhere that I could think of and I can't find any photo or the answer to your other question regarding the 7816. If I do come across anything I'll post you back :)

As far as the MCS-7816-H3, my guess is that it's a DL140. The only other 1U HP (below a DL320) is a DL145, and I doubt Cisco would pick an AMD processor.

I've been trying to place an order for them, but am told that it's still in NPH (new product hold) and won't ship until mid to late July.

I was guessing the DL140 myself. But after review, HP lists the server as having a Xeon processor, where as Cisco lists the MCS-7816 as having a Celeron processor. The specifications on the hardware also differ from the HP/Cisco spec sheets (size, slots, etc).

My guess is there is a new lower end model proliant/ibm platform coming out and perhaps thats why shipping is delayed to July.

7816 sounds more like a DL320. If you look at the options available with LD320, you can even choose to have a Celeron Processor. Check for info about HP DL320 specifications and for MCS-7816 Specifications.
