What is the "y" in "line vty 0 4"? What does the "y" stand-for if vt is virtual terminal?

Ah, that's historic. It's a unix-like contraction of tty for teletype, and vt for virtual terminal. Seemed good that most device names were three letters, I think it started like this.

Virtual TeletYpe - A command line interface created in router for a Telnet session.

Thanks for confirming. I thought it would have been Virtual Terminal "something".
