Hi there

Is there a command to show the number of memory slots that are occupied in the RSP4 of a 7513?

TIA

If you are talking about DRAM, I don't think there is a command to know the slot available. It's different for the FLASH though.

However, for DRAM there is another way to find out without shutting down your router and removing the RSP from its slot.

RSP4/4+ has only two slots for DRAM DIMM which is Bank0 (U10) and Bank1 (U13).

The DIMM DRAM for RSP4/4+ comes in the following options

1. 1 x MEM-RSP4-32M(=) = Total of 32MB DRAM

- Either you plug it in Bank0 (U10) or Bank1 (U13). Whatever, you have one Bank free.

This mean that if you have 32MB DRAM, you have one Memory Bank free.

NOTE: 32MB is RSP4 Default

2. 2 x MEM-RSP4-32M(=) = Total of 64MB DRAM

- You plug each one to Bank0 (U10) and Bank1 (U13)

This mean that if you have 64MB DRAM, all the memory bank is occupied.

NOTE: 64MB is RSP4+ Default

3. 1 x MEM-RSP4-128M(=) = Total of 128MB DRAM

- Either you plug it in Bank0 (U10) or Bank1 (U13). Whatever, you have one Bank free.

This mean that if you have 128MB DRAM, you have one Memory Bank free.

4. 2 x MEM-RSP4-128M(=) = Total of 256MB DRAM

- You plug each one to Bank0 (U10) and Bank1 (U13)

This mean that if you have 256MB DRAM, all the memory bank is occupied.

WARNING: Do not mix memory sizes. If installing two DIMMs, both DIMMs must be the same size

Hi medan

Thanks for the reply.

According to your link, I can put 1x or 2x 256MB DIMM into an RSP4. So I can have a maximum of 512MB.

I currently have 256MB which could be either 1x 256MB or 2x 128MB.

So I dont think I can work it out the way you've suggested (unless Ive miss-read your post).

Any other options you can think of?

Thanks

Matt

Nope, RSP4/4+ maximum DRAM Memory is 256MB which is 2 x 128MB. If you are referring to the link "Table 1 RSP4/4+ Memory Components" "Column 2 - Size" it is referring to DRAM from minimum (32MB) to maximum (256MB).

Refer to my DRAM combination from item 1 to 4 or "Table 7 RSP4/4+ DRAM DIMM Configurations" in the link
